राजा राजा चोल ( Raja Raja chola)

को अब तक के सबसे महान भारतीय राजाओं में से एक माना जाता है और संभवतः चोल वंश का सबसे महान नेता भी माना जाता है। उसने एक छोटे से राज्य को दक्षिण भारत के प्रमुख साम्राज्यों में से एक में बदल दिया। उन्होंने विश्व प्रसिद्ध मंदिर का निर्माण किया जिसे यूनेस्को द्वारा बृहदेश्वर मंदिर नामक विश्व धरोहर स्थल के रूप में घोषित किया गया था। वह एक ऐसे राजवंश से था जिसने करिकाल चोल, विजयालय चोल, आदित्य चोल I आदि जैसे महान राजाओं का शासन देखा। उन्होंने 985 और 1014 ईस्वी के बीच शासन किया। उन्होंने दक्षिणी भारत के राज्यों को जीतकर एक शक्तिशाली साम्राज्य में चोल साम्राज्य के विकास की नींव रखी और उन्होंने चोल साम्राज्य का विस्तार दक्षिण में श्रीलंका और कलिंग (उड़ीसा) तक किया। पूर्वोत्तर। उसने उत्तर में चालुक्यों और दक्षिण में पांड्यों के साथ कई युद्ध किए। वह एक उग्र योद्धा, एक शानदार वास्तुकार और एक महान परोपकारी व्यक्ति थे।

Birth

राजा राजा चोल प्रथम का जन्म अरुल्मोझी वर्मन के रूप में परान्तक द्वितीय और वनवन महादेवी (वेलिर मलायामन वंश) के रूप में 947 में अयपासी महीने में साध्यम नक्षत्र के दिन हुआ था। उन्हें राजा राजा शिवपद शेखरा, तेलुंगाना कुल कला, पोन्नियिन सेलवन, राजकेसरी वर्मन, राजा राजा देवर और सम्मानपूर्वक पेरुवुदैयार के नाम से भी जाना जाता था। वह परान्तक द्वितीय की तीसरी और छोटी संतान थे। उनका एक बड़ा भाई और बड़ी बहन थी। आदित्य करिकालन या आदित्य द्वितीय उनके बड़े भाई थे जिनकी निर्मम हत्या कर दी गई थी। कुंडवई उनकी बड़ी बहन थीं। अभिलेखों और अभिलेखों के अनुसार, उनकी लगभग 15 पत्नियाँ थीं। उनमें से वानथी या थिरिपुवना मडेवियार (कोडुमबलुर की राजकुमारी) ने उन्हें अपना इकलौता पुत्र राजेंद्र चोल प्रथम जन्म दिया।

सिंहासन में प्रवेश-

राजा राजा चोल प्रथम के दादा गंधरादित्य और अरिंजय थे। गंडारादित्य ने 950-956 ईस्वी के बीच चोल साम्राज्य पर शासन किया था। गंडारादित्य बहुत देर की उम्र तक निःसंतान थे। इसलिए उसने सोचा कि उसका कोई उत्तराधिकारी नहीं होगा। इसी उद्देश्य से उसने अपने भाई अरिंजय को अपना उत्तराधिकारी बनाया। लेकिन कुछ समय बाद उन्हें उत्तम चोल नाम की एक संतान हुई। अरिंजय का उत्तराधिकारी उसका पुत्र परान्तक द्वितीय हुआ। यहाँ परान्तक द्वितीय के स्थान पर उत्तम चोल को राजा बनाया जाना चाहिए क्योंकि उसे सिंहासन का अधिकार है। लेकिन परंतक द्वितीय को राजा बना दिया गया। जैसा कि हम जानते हैं कि परान्तक द्वितीय राजा राजा चोल प्रथम और आदित्य द्वितीय के पिता थे। आदित्य द्वितीय की हत्या पांडियन साम्राज्य के वीरा पांड्या के समर्थकों द्वारा की गई थी क्योंकि वीरा पांड्या को आदित्य द्वितीय ने एक युद्ध में मार दिया था। आदित्य द्वितीय की मृत्यु के बाद, उत्तम चोल ने परान्तक द्वितीय को उसे अपना उत्तराधिकारी घोषित करने के लिए मजबूर किया। परंतक द्वितीय के छोटे बेटे, राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने विरोध नहीं किया क्योंकि वह गृहयुद्ध से बचना चाहते थे। तो उत्तम चोल राजा राजा प्रथम के पिता के उत्तराधिकारी बने। फिर उत्तम चोल की मृत्यु के बाद, राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने उन्हें चोल साम्राज्य के सम्राट के रूप में उत्तराधिकारी बनाया। उन्होंने सिंहासन का दावा करने के लिए लगभग 15 वर्षों तक प्रतीक्षा की।

कंडलूर की लड़ाई:

राजा राजा चोल प्रथम का पहला अभियान उसके शासनकाल के 9वें वर्ष में हुआ था। राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने वर्ष 994 ईस्वी में चेरा साम्राज्य पर हमला करने का फैसला किया। उस समय चेरा साम्राज्य के राजा भास्कर रवि वर्मन थिरुवादी थे। राजा राजा चोल प्रथम और चेरों के बीच यह लड़ाई कंडलूर सलाई (केरल में आधुनिक वालिया-साला) के एक बंदरगाह शहर में लड़ी गई थी। इस लड़ाई में चोलों के खिलाफ पांड्य और सिंहल ने चेरों के साथ गठबंधन किया। यह चोल और चेरों के बीच एक नौसैनिक युद्ध था जिसे "कंडलूर सलाई की लड़ाई" कहा जाता था। राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने चेरा नौसेना के बेड़े की कई नावों और जहाजों को नष्ट कर दिया। लड़ाई कुछ वर्षों तक लड़ी गई और अंत में राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने युद्ध जीत लिया। कंडलूर युद्ध को अक्सर राजा राजा चोल प्रथम की पहली सैन्य उपलब्धि माना जाता है।

श्रीलंका पर आक्रमण :

तिरुवलंगडु तांबे की प्लेट शिलालेखों में उल्लेख है कि राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने सिंहली देश (श्रीलंका) पर आक्रमण किया था। उस समय सिंहली के राजा महिंदा वी थे। इस युद्ध में राजा राजा प्रथम ने सिंहली की 1400 साल पुरानी राजधानी अनुराधापुर को नष्ट कर दिया था। राजा राजा प्रथम ने पोलोन्नारुवा शहर को राजधानी शहर के रूप में चुना। उन्होंने इसका नाम बदलकर जननाथमंगलम कर दिया। उन्होंने उस शहर में एक शिव मंदिर बनवाया। उसने श्रीलंका के केवल उत्तरी भाग पर कब्जा कर लिया। बाकी आधे हिस्से पर उसके बाद उसके बेटे राजेंद्र चोल ने कब्जा कर लिया।

पूर्वी और पश्चिमी चालुक्यों के साथ युद्ध:

राजा राजा प्रथम के शासनकाल के दौरान, होयसाल पश्चिमी चालुक्यों के जागीरदार थे। नरसीपुर में गोपालकृष्ण मंदिर के एक शिलालेख में उल्लेख है कि एक चोल सेनापति ने मंत्री नागन्ना और होयसल के अन्य सेनापतियों को मार डाला। यह पश्चिमी चालुक्यों पर चोलों की अप्रत्यक्ष विजय थी।

उस समय वेंगी साम्राज्य पर पूर्वी चालुक्य वंश के जटा चोड भीम का शासन था। राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने वेंगी साम्राज्य पर युद्ध छेड़ा और जटा चोड़ा भीम को हराया और वेंगी राज्य पर कब्जा कर लिया। उन्होंने शक्तिवर्मन को चोल साम्राज्य के वायसराय के रूप में वेंगी साम्राज्य के सिंहासन पर बिठाया। फिर से लगभग 1001 ईस्वी में भीम ने कांची पर आक्रमण किया और कब्जा कर लिया। इस बार राजा राजा चोल प्रथम ने उसे मार डाला और वेंगी राज्य के सिंहासन पर शक्तिवर्मन को फिर से स्थापित किया।

गंगा युद्ध:

लगभग 998-999 A.D. राजा राजा ने गंगापदी (गंगावाड़ी), नूरमपदी (नोलंबवाड़ी) पर विजय प्राप्त की, जो वर्तमान कर्नाटक का हिस्सा था। राजा राजा प्रथम द्वारा चोल देश पर आक्रमण एक पूर्ण सफलता साबित हुई और संपूर्ण गंगा देश अगली शताब्दी के लिए चोल शासन के अधीन आ गया।

बृहदेश्वर मंदिर का निर्माण:-

भारत के सबसे महान और सबसे बड़े मंदिरों में से एक बृहदेश्वर मंदिर था जो भगवान शिव को समर्पित था। यह मंदिर यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर स्थल का एक हिस्सा है। मंदिर द्रविड़ वास्तुकला का एक उदाहरण है। यह तमिलनाडु के तंजावुर में स्थित है। इस मंदिर की नींव लगभग 1002 ईस्वी में रखी गई थी। इस महान मंदिर का निर्माण चोल वंश के राजा राजा चोल ने करवाया था। यह 1010 ई. में बनकर तैयार हुआ था। 2010 में यह मंदिर 1000 साल पुराना हो गया।

मंदिर की मीनार (विमानम) 198 फीट ऊंची है और दुनिया में सबसे ऊंची में से एक है। मंदिर के शीर्ष (कुंबम) के शीर्ष का वजन लगभग 80 टन है। पूरा मंदिर ग्रेनाइट से बना है। यह मंदिर चोलों के धन, शक्ति और कलात्मक विशेषज्ञता की अभिव्यक्ति है।

मृत्यु और उत्तराधिकार:

राजाराजा चोल एक ऐसे राजा थे जिन्होंने अपने लगभग पूरे जीवन को पत्थर के शिलालेखों और तांबे की प्लेटों पर प्रलेखित किया लेकिन उनकी मृत्यु के बारे में कोई जानकारी उपलब्ध नहीं है। उनकी समाधि अब उदयलूर के छोटे से गांव में है। यह वह जगह है जहां उसे दफन या अंतिम संस्कार करने की अफवाह है। इसके ऊपर लगभग 2 फीट लंबा एक शिवलिंग है। राजा राजा चोल जैसे महान राजा के पास इतनी छोटी और साधारण कब्र क्यों होगी?

कई पुरातत्वविदों का कहना है कि राजा की मृत्यु दर्ज नहीं होने का एकमात्र कारण यह है कि यदि राजा की मृत्यु अप्राकृतिक मृत्यु हो जाती है। इसके अनुसार, यदि किसी राजा ने आत्महत्या की या उसकी हत्या कर दी गई, तो प्राचीन तमिल इसे रिकॉर्ड नहीं करेंगे। राजाराजा की मृत्यु कैसे हुई, इस प्रश्न का यह सही उत्तर हो सकता है। लेकिन अभी तक यह साबित नहीं हुआ है इसलिए यह अभी भी एक अनुमान है। राजा राजा चोल प्रथम की मृत्यु 1014 ईस्वी के आसपास हुई थी, उनके पुत्र राजेंद्र चोल प्रथम ने उनका उत्तराधिकारी बनाया।
